Can Lucid Virtu be used this way?

I'm not familiar with how the Lucid Virtu software / features work on the current gen. boards w/ Intel chipsets.

If I have a small form-factor PC that does not have an expansion slot on the case, BUT the ITX board in the PC has a PCIe 16x slot, can I:

- Somehow get a video card into that slot (the case doesn't have the slot opening on the back so I'd have to desolder / remove the DVI, VGA, etc. ports on the card).

- Use the motherboard's onboard video / video outputs as the outputs for that video card in the PCIe 16x slot.

Would this work?

Well, assuming the card survives the removal of the display outputs: yes, but not optimally.

Thing is, if you're using igp for normal output and videocard for gaming only the card isn't shut off at all when not in use. On the contrary, it won't even clock down to its idle clocks so it uses lots more power while doing absolutely nothing.

I'd get a different case if I were you. Plenty of mITX cases with room for vidcards.
