Would it improve performance in sys. mem. and CPU intensive games specifically? I have a 9600pro 256mb. card but only 512mb. ram on a Sempron@2100mhz. My memory will often be fully utilized, so would lowering the Aperture help or hinder? I've always thought it would be irrelevant.

I've played around with aperture size a bit, but it's been too long to remember... The easiest way to check is to set it to one value and run a timedemo in a game (something that reports average fps). Then, switch the value to something significantly different (higher or lower) and see what happens to the results of the timedemo. Shouldn't take more than five minutes.

Aperture size does not restrict the ram in any way. The amount set is just the max allowed if it needs it. It is not reserved. If there is anything to be gained by lowering it, it would be entirely dependent on the particular game. Taking away from the vid card to serve the cpu might just be a tradeoff.
