Ok, I want to extend the speakers to 4 corners of the room without actually tripping over the wires. I read in many places where people said you cannot extend the wires and some said you can. Does anyone know if it is possible or not?

Hypothetically, if there is such thing as a coupling, then it is.

[Wire][ Coupling with same in as Z5500 subwoofer ][Longer wire][ Subwoofer ]

Which version? There are some (like mine) with bare wires, and some with RCA plugs (i think). Either way, this should be possible. with bare wires, just join up more wires (I think a minimum of 18 gauge is required), and there you go. If RCA, you need to get some joiners, or go ghetto on it.... anyways, I am not aware of any technical reason for you not to be able to.

If its the ones that have spring clips then you just need to buy and cut speaker wire long enough. If its the early version that had one end terminated in an RCA plug then there's probably an adapter that will work (might even be able to find a banana plug that works).

buy 16 guage wire roll, its cheap, cut to fit.... don't go crazy and go past 25 feet for instance. i dunno what other plugs there are but you can buy headphone jack type plugs with screw terminals for hooking up wire at radioshack. or just buy wires with the plugs already built in...tend to be higher guage though

For a couple years now I think everyone has been getting speaker wire ones (spring clip things).

I think it was only the original version of them that used RCA connections and they have been using the speaker wire version for a long time now.

Unless Dell is getting their stock from a secret stash they've been hiding away in a warehouse, they should be the speaker wire version.

If it's anything like the 5450 (which is fairly similar... just a little less powerful and uses wireless rear speakers), it'll use speaker wire for the connections on both the sub and the speakers themselves. Wireless speakers may be a little gimmicky but it is kind of nice when you want to avoid running speaker wire across the floor... just hope you have an outlet nearby .
