I bought this video card after reading a review on anandtek and today I was looking at what monitor to buy for it and it seems that the monitors I am looking at run in 1680x1050. I looked at leadtek's website and that resolution isn't supported but larger resolutions are. Is there a way to get this video card to run 1680x1050?

Thanks,

Steve

Once you plug the monitor in to that card, the card will do 1680x1050. It will detect it. I have the same monitor and even used a 5200FX on it... among other cards. Don't even worry about it ;-) I have yet to install my new 6600GT, I am waiting for my PSU... but I know it'll work

Yes it will. NVidia's drivers as well as ATi's can read a DVI panel's native resolution, and if it's an odd one, add it to the list of available resolutions for you to choose from.

Chances are that the 6xxx series chips finally fix the DVI signal quality issues at high resolutions that have been plagueing the older ones ...

According to Leadtek's technical support, the answer is no.

I decided to email them and ask. here is their response:

"1680x1050 is not supported with the current driver. However, You can find
some of the latest NVIDIA drivers from here. Please give it a try.

I guess there is a difference in saying it won't work and it isn't supported. Their answer reads like an implied no to me. But, I'll have to buy one of the two widescreen monitors I am thinking of buying and find out for sure. I just need to decide between the 20" apple and the dell. I think I'll head up to the apple store tomorrow and take a gander at it. To bad there isn't a Dell store.

If you use regular nvidia drivers you can add any resolution you want.

No problems running 1680x1050 on my 6800GT. Just plugged the monitor in and picked 1680x1050. I don't see why you have any problems with a 6600GT either.
