Can LCD's be good for video & Photo editing and Gaming?

Lets just say for a moment that I have got to get an LCD as opposed to a CRT monitor. Can LCD's be good for video & photo editing and gaming?


What resolution should I shot for? What other features should I look at? This would be for a system that I have not bought yet, so expect to system alone to cost $1,500 - $2,000. A Geforce 6800 GT is what I had in mind but may hold off for a PCI Express version with SLI if its not too far away.


What monitors do you recommend? Price would be $300- $600 for a monitor.

For gaming yes they can. Get one with response times of 16ms or 12ms. Viewsonic, Samsung, Ben-Q all have lcd's in the 16-12 ms categories for your price range 😉 Dell has some as well
 
Can anyone comment on how well LCD's can be for Video and Photo editing? Thanks.


Any specific recommendations on the resolution I should be going for and good LCD Models?
