Can latest Direct X 8.1b for Win2000 be used for XP?

DirectX 8.1 comes with WinXP. If you want to repair your DirectX perhaps using System Restore or performing a repair installation of the OS would do the trick?

BTW, how do you know that you have bad DirectX files on your WinXP installation? Is Windows File Protection turned off?
