I'm thinking about buying a cpu PIII700e with cB0 or a cC0 stepping. If I buy from Pricewatch dealers, is there a possiblity that cpu might not overclock??

I want to be sure that I can overclock PIII700 to 933 at 133mhz. How high is the chance to get a overclockerable cpu??? Is most of all the PII700 can overclock???

Please help me and post your cpu cooler too.
Thanks

Most cC0 stepping P3-700Es should get to 933.

cB0 stepping 700Es manufactured after 2000, week 20, cannot reach 933.

I got lucky and have one of the few week 20 cB0 P3-700Es that could overclock to 933. I am using stock retail cooling and 1.85 volts.

Don't believe that MOST PIII700s will go to 933. I have heard from more than 1 source that the yields are not as good as they once were. At my local shop, they have been getting 700s that won't do more than mid-800s. Get a pre-tested chip or take your chances.

The default voltage for cB0 stepping CPUs is 1.65 volts and 1.70 volts for cC0 stepping processors.

I'd be very reluctant to run at anything over 1.85 volts.
