Can Israel just Pull-Out Immediately ?

I hear a lot of people shouting "STOP THE OCCUPATION" ...as if it is a single step. As if it can be acheived immediately. I know that in the end Israel does NOT WANT the occupied territories. They always give the land back when peace is acheived....just look at Egypt. Over the last few year of intifada Israel has tried to leave the territories, when they can. But the militants just keep up the suicide bombings...and they continue to shout "STOP THE OCCUPATION"...I dont get it...how can they expect occupation to end over night ?? How can they expect occupation to end if they dont stop the terror attacks ?

I DONT GET IT !!!

Israel does not stop terrorism when it moves into and occupies the disputed territories, no matter what the right-wing zealots say. It may bring a temporary reprieve, nothing more. The only time they enjoy long stretches of peace is when leaders get together and agree to compromise.

I think today there's a question of whether even compromise can work because the terrorists appear to be out of control...at least out of Araphat's control.

before the last suicide bombing there had been 6 weeks since the last sucide bombing, during that time Israel killed around 70 palestinians.

it would give israel more legitimacy if they'd pull out. then they would occupy the moral high ground and the euros might support them. US + Euros = pwn!

mostly, israel would have no guarantee of peace if they pulled out, or guarantee of support from europe. they have no problem exchanging land for peace, but they cannot appease the terrorists who would firmly believe that their tactics worked in driving out the israelis, and when they push for more land they won't stop. many israelis would like to be out of gaza and the west bank, but not because the terrorists demand it. too many of them don't want to stop short of the complete destruction of israel.

Even if it's true that they killed 70 Palestinians during that time, that doesnt make them the bad guys. Do you know who they killed? There might have been another 70 suicide bombs during those weeks if they HADN'T killed these guys.
