Question Can Intel Optane Drives be used as storage by themselves?

I know Intel Optane drives are normally used as a cache, but can they be formatted and used as storage? Reason I ask is I have an external NVMe enclosure (link below) and want a highly reliable external drive for work critical files.

Yes they can. Without the caching software they are regular NVMe drives.
