Can Intel I7 memory be used AMD Asus M4A785TD-M EVO

I just built a new system with the following

Asus M4A785TD-M EVO
Phenom II 550, which is now unlocked to 4 cores showing x4 B50

Corsair CMX4GX3M2A 1600C9
on Corsair website it says for Intel I7

It shows as single rather than dual channel
and it shows the speed as 700, when it should be 1280

on Newegg on person said to increase the voltage to 1.65. I tried that but it didn't work.

I purchased everything 3 days ago so it can be returned

I mean absolutely no offense when I say this, but it seems like you're getting in over your head before learning the basics. You have a dual core (IIRC) unlocked to a quad, but you don't know what memory you can use with it? Seems kind of backwards.

Memory isn't specific to one platform or another. For example, there are both Intel and AMD (and Nvidia...) chipsets that use DDR3 memory. DDR3 that works on an Intel motherboard should also work on a DDR3-compatible AMD motherboard, as long as the speed, voltage, and timings fall within the board's specs. You have DDR3-1600 memory with a CAS latency of 9. You need to look up your motherboard and figure out what it can take for memory. Does it take DDR3 or DDR2? If it takes DDR3 memory, does it take DDR3-1600 or is the maximum a slower speed like DDR3-1333?

Some faster memory does require more voltage to run at its rated speed, but you can always use a memory divider to run it at a lower speed and stock volts. If the motherboard specifies DDR3-1333 and nothing higher, use a memory dividier in BIOS to take the memory's speed down a notch.

I can't find a memory divider anywhere
where is it usually placed and might it be called something else?

How are you arranging the memory? Did the memory come with 3 physical memory modules? If so you will need to use ONLY TWO in your AMD motherboard. It will run in single-channel with 3, or 1, but you need ONLY TWO installed for dual channel mode. Refer to your motherboard's manual for which memory slots to put the sticks in to for dual-channel memory mode.

If you look at the mushkin forums, the mushkin reps answer many issues with "the model number Mushkin Frostbyte DDR3 you have is designed for i5/i7 systems, get this model number for AM3. Also, vice-versa, which leads me to believe that it DOES make a difference and you should buy RAM for the brand CPU / chipset you have. It used to not be a big deal, but I think it is these days. Look at the new ECO DDR3, it's designed only for i5/i7. AM3 needs more voltage, but I think it goes beyond that.

However, I think your issue may be BIOS settings related. Memory timings are not exactly simple to understand.
