Hello I recently got interested in Linux and decided to buy a nice little laptop so I could pentest and learn. My plan was to go to my nearest BestBuy and buy the cheapest laptop I could find, I bought a Lenovo Ideapad 110s. Obviously before I bought the hardware I researched and found out about dual booting. So my plan was to access the BIOS Dual boot and permanently install a Linux based operating system. When I got it I realized that Lenovo has a huge security restricion's on the hardrives and it wasnt as easy. A friend and I managed to get dual booting working on it. However, the OS's wouldnt install properly although the installation process says its finished installing properly on the computer, once I reboot I get prompted with a boot order and although the hardrive is on the list it glitches out and refuses to boot. Ive tried installing; Tails,Ubuntu,LinuxMint,ParrotOS, and Kali linux. All failed with the same issue. One user recommended I use Dual Boot in persistence mode, so I tried that and it seemed to work in the beginning. I made a partition on my drive and everything. However when I shutdown and rebooted the laptop persistence failed and deleted my files and users. I really need some professionals and stumbled upon this site. Whoever can help thank you it means alot to me, I really want to believe that I dont have to throw away my laptop. But since Ive tried everything Im beginning to loose hope.
