Slashdot posted an article about the iPhone turning 10 this year, and mentioned that the original iPhone couldn't do Bluetooth file transfers, but AFAIK nor can modern ones, instead relying on cloud providers and/or Apple-only AirDrop?

If you're talking about universal any-device-to-any-device transfers, no. Bluetooth transfers can be a pain, though. I like AirDrop in no small part because you don't have to think much about it. Do both ends have Bluetooth on? Then you can send that file in a couple of seconds. I just wish it weren't an Apple device exclusive, because it'd be great to send a photo to your Android- or Windows-toting friend without jumping through hoops.

Something tells me this isn't high on the priority list, like it or not. Cloud services are advancing quickly, and AirDrop is one of those "see, you should have an iPhone" marketing points.
