Can i5-6200U be underclocked?

Hey :). I know this CPU can be undervolted, but can it also be underclocked?

What's the minimum frequency when sitting at idle?

I know that they're throttling down. The question was if I can make it throttle down FURTHER, by underclocking / undervolting :).

400Mhz is the lowest it can go.

My 6100U idles at 500Mhz usually. And its the lowest it can really get. It makes no sense with lower since there is no power saving.

When they throttle down, they're usually go down to the lowest multiplier that's available on the CPU.

I guess 400 Mhz is more than enough :D. I thought the minimum is 800, since that's what is listed in Intel's Ark. They say: "Configurable TDP-down Frequency 800 MHz"

@LTK8K6: so then how does it reach 7.5W? Just by idling? Perhaps undervolting? I'm missing a piece here I think :).

The multiplier goes from 4-23 on my 6100U. So 400Mhz is possible. However 500mhz ringbus seems to be the lowest. And I think you may need turbo ability for it to be unlocked to the ringbus.

TDP always refers to the base frequency (2.3 GHz), configurable TDP is a way to overclock/overvolt by setting a thermal power goal instead, it's basically "over-watting", by shifting base frequency up or down by 800 MHz your
15 W @ 2.3 GHz CPU becomes either a
7.5 W CPU @ 1.5 GHZ or a
25 W @ 3.1 GHz

The lowest watt, clock or volt-age available to power saving states is not listed on Intel's site. Idle CPUs should consume close to zero power.

The multiplier goes from 4-23 on my 6100U. So 400Mhz is possible. However 500mhz ringbus seems to be the lowest. And I think you may need turbo ability for it to be unlocked to the ringbus.

0.156 V @ 500 MHz that does seem low, how on earth... o_O

The real voltage is 0.632 or so.

Never put too much trust into utilities.

Just like my 7Ghz 4670:

That was just CPU-Z and some BIOS fluke that couldn't agree. It swinged between normal speed and this every instant. Only in CPU-Z.
