I can get for free an old 486dx. It has a 1.5GB HDD Win95 and 12MB ram.
I was wondering if I get a couple of Linksys 10/100 NICs would I be able to set this up so that I can hook up my other 2 computers to share my cable connection instead of buying a router? Thanks

With 12 MB RAM, you might have a tough time running anything modern and powerful enough to give you good performance. You might be better off to ante up the cash for a $60 router instead. Or, if you can scrounge enough RAM to get it to 32, you can probably throw Linux and a routing package (Or Win95 w/ Sygate) and make it work. performance won't be too hot, however.
