Can I write a binary file to a CF card, using my digital camera.

If I hook up my A60 to a winxp comp, and ahve it appear under "My computer", would I be able to put some non-jpg files onto the CF card?

Why are people under the impression that flash memory marketed towards cameras can only contain .JPEG files?

The software app I use on my win2k comp doesn't let me put binary files through the camera. I have used the same CF card on my PDA, I just don't know whether the camera can do it.

anyway, I guess I should go to my sister's place and try it

I'm assuming it should work. When you connect your digital camera to your computer, it just shows up as a new drive letter.

Nope you can only store images.

If the camera hidden AI detects the data doesn't contain a 24-bit+ image of a person, place, or item it will crap out and die. Its like what printer manufacturers do with respect to cartridge refills. You must buy the binary file add-on from the manufacturer, typically these run around $buyafvckingclue amount of money 😀😛😉

I've tried it with my A70 before. Didn't work if i recall. With a mem card reader of course it works.

Yeah, just pick up a cheap memory card reader. I use my CF cards like a keychain drive. There is all kinds of crap on them.

I just attempted it on my A80. Nope. Doesn't work. You can't drag files onto the camera. Only can drag files from the camera.

Ah, thanks. That's too bad. I need to reinstall my PDA's OS before I sell it, but I have no way to put the files I need on the CF. Damn.

I guess I'll just buy a card reader, they go for $10 or so.
