can i wash a cpu fan under a running tap??

want to clean it off all the dust that has gotten trapped in it. if i cannot wash it, what can i do? hair dryer didn't help. was not strong enough.

no way water will ruin the alternator(maybe right name Flat=swede) buy a bottle of compressed electronic connection cleaner, sorta like compressed air but its not, availible hardware store computers stores

what's Q-tips? and alcohol? i can't reach the innates of the heatsink at all.

If you remove the fan from the heatsink then using tap water won't hurt. As for the fan itself, compressed air works well.

hey i managed to remove the fan from the heatsink (it was just clipped onto it) and now my heatsink and fan are both clean!
