Can I use two Logitech MX1000 Mice?

mayest

I've got two PCs at the same desk (sharing a monitor). On one I have a Logitech MX1000 wireless mouse that I really like. Most importantly, I like the fact that it uses a recharger rather than normal batteries. For the other PC, I have an old wireless Microsoft mouse that I now hate to use compared to the Logitech. The MX1000 fits my hand better and just works much more smoothly.

So, can I use two MX1000's on different PCs in the same room? I'm concerned about them using the same frequency or codes or otherwise getting confused.

Thanks.

No, it is a regular wireless mouse. The charging station serves as the receiver and charger, and it connects to the PC via USB.

Thanks. Does that mean that two mice will automatically negotiate channels so that they will work together?

The other thing that I just realized is that I can try turning off the one that I'm not using. That might work if nothing else does.

I am not sure of the two channels on the MX1000 as there is no switch
However, there are Reset Buttons on both the Mouse (bottom) and the
Receiver ... pressing them for a few seconds will Sync the Mouse with
the desired Receiver, so they should work independtly. Also, the mouse
has a range of about 5 feet or so from the receiver

If this does not work as desired, why not route the Mouse Receiver thru
the VM Switch you are probably using to share the Monitor ? ?

Thanks bruceb, I think I'll go out tomorrow and buy another one. Hopefully, when I sync it to the receiver it won't confuse the other one. If it does, I'll just take it back and try something else.

Well, I'm not using a KVM of any type. The monitor has a DVI and a VGA connection, so I have both PCs directly plugged in to that. Every time I look at KVM switches, I read all kinds of bad things. It seems that you need to spend a bunch of money to get one that works reliably. Maybe not, but I'm happy with two mice and two keyboards.

For anybody interested, I bought another MX1000 today and it works great. No interference with the other one.
