Can I use this power supply with a "newer" mobo/cpu?

It appears that my PS is a "low-end" power supply (Lite-On Model No. PS-5151-6B) with links below:

Web-address (sorry about NO "link") to LABEL ATTACHED TO POWER SUPPLY = http://j23456.50megs.com/pb/ps1/ps5151lay1.asp.htm

Web-address to specifications of my power supply = http://j23456.50megs.com/pb/ps1/ps5151ovw.asp.htm

My PS only puts out a total of 25 amps (3.3V and 5V combined) and 145-200 watts maximum (I believe it is Form Factor SFX).

Do you guys think my PS will work with a "newer" mobo/cpu (e.g., Duron 1000 MHz, etc.)?

The AMD web-site lists a DIFFERENT Lite-On power supply (i.e. a newer model than mine) with 145 Watt (again SFX Form Factor) rating and AMD recommended it's use with up to a Duron 1000 MHz and also the Athlon 1000 MHz.

I've got my reasons for not WANTING to buy a new power supply UNLESS absolutely necessary:)!

Thanks,

Bud

I would definately suggest upgrading to a newer ps. That lite-on looks to be a bit too anemic for a ghz processor system. I would suggest a 300-400 watt ps with dual fans, such as an antec true 330. You can get one of these for about
50 dollars.

I get mid-tower ATX cases with Powmax 300 watt PSU's new for around $40. It's a cheaper PSU but I've built 25 or so systems with them and haven't had a problem yet. You can buy a Powmax 300 watt PSU on Pricewatch for around $22 - $25 shipped. Hope this helps. I agree with japetto on the PSU you have now is too anemic for a 1 GHz system. Anything over 600 Mhz I put a 300 watt PSU in.
