It can be done. You may have to do a pin mod to get some motherboards to recognize the chip, and some may not recognize it at all. Another problem is that speedstep will default to the lowest multiplier, and you can't change it, so it won't be running at stock speed. I have an older 1.6ghz mobile northwood running in a desktop, I did the pin mod so it gets the correct voltage, and it doesn't have speed step, so I didnt run in to the multiplier problem either. I have it running on an Aopen AX4GE Max. It's a decent motherboard that I got for like $40. It uses the 845 chipset, has SATA and USB 2.0, and works good with my mobile P4.
