Can I use the Linksys WRT54G as an access point?

If there is not a wireless AP function on the router, you can shove a LAN cable into the uplink port on the switch... or a lan port on it and then disable its DHCP server.... kind of a hack but it works... just make sure IP is differnt from main routers.

Ezlan.net has a good guide that I think is what you're looking for. I used that guide to use a Netgear MR814v2 as a wired and wireless AP with a Linksys BEFSblahblah as the main router. Worked perfectly.
