There is a program that can make a Palm Pilot do that but I don't know about a laptop. I know that the Palm Pilot's IR emitter has a very narrow, short range beam which makes it a poor TV remote. The same is probably true for the laptops IR emitter. BTW, why would you want to use a laptop as a TV remote??? It's a bit big to pick up just to change the channel. :p

I wouldn't count on it... IR on laptops has the same problem as MWink stated: the beam's range. I wouldn't be surprised if the farthest distance the IR port could talk to anything would be 1 foot. Anyway, you can try and find some software off the net, but don't be too sure of yourself.
