I have a 5450 and a GTX 570. However I would like to use both as my GTX570 does not have any VGA out to my second monitor and the 5450 does. Can I plug both in and expect the 5450 to output video, while my GTX570 is the main card?

Get a DVI-VGA adapter which should have come with the thing anyway. And no is the answer.

You have a Z68 motherboard and Sandybridge.
You should be able to use your processor graphics for secondary monitor output on VGA, with the GTX570 for the main display/gaming.
No need for a second card just for a VGA monitor, or use a DVI->VGA adapter as suggested above, since your GPU should have at least one DVI-I output that supports analogue.

I think you can do it. At least I've seen a lot of ppl talk about it in Bitcoin forums having a Nv card for gaming/daily and an AMD card for mining.

Can I just plug in he VGA to my Sandy bridge and expect it to work instantly or are there drivers I need to install/bios settings?

If it's not already enabled, you might need to make sure it's enabled in the BIOS, and Windows should install some default drivers, you may want to update drivers from the Intel website though.

To see if it's enabled currently, go into Device Manager and you will see two devices listed under display adapters if it's enabled.

You will need to check your motherboard BIOS manual or just hunt around in the BIOS to work out how to enable it if it's not currently enabled.
