Can I use old inf file in Windows XP?

For some reason my monitor model is not listed under their choices so now it's just detected as "default monitor". Can I use the old inf file which if listed to work for Win95,98, and 2000 to try and install the monitor with XP? Thanks.
 
you can try it, sure. it will either let you use it or it won't.

many drivers that work in win2k translate over to xp if you're lucky

if you can't get it to work, you can just set your monitor from 'default' to something like "1600 x 1200 SVGA" (that will allow you to get any resolution and refresh you want out of the monitor most likely)
