I was looking at buying a Live Drive that doesn't have a remote included. It has the IR port but no remote.
Can I hook up my PB serial remote and program it to perform Live! Drive functions?????
What do you think?

i don't think it will work, PB remotes have been known to work through a basic serial IR port, but I don't think that's how the CL port is implemented  though I could be way off.

Well I was thinking of using the serial connection. I just want it to be able to control the Live Drive.
Does that make sense?

oic.. well - for one thing.. you'll need to run 2 apps to have the remote do anything other than work with a plugin for Winamp (which sucks, cuz then you can't open winamp - or do anything else useful)
I have my PB remote setup using WinLIRC server to receive signals & IRassistant to setup commands/actions.

So - I would look into 2 things.
#1. how does the CL port interface (if it can hook up to serial - great, otherwise you might try what I did - which is rip open the PB receiver & take the IR port & install it in place of the CL port) otherwise - not sure if the remote will work w/ the port in the Live!Drive.
#2. find out if IRassistant (www.irassistant.com) or Girder <another remote app> (www.girder.nl) will allow you to create commands for the Live!Drive (i'm guessing you want volume control & stuff like that, which is easy - but what "Live!Drive" specific functions do u want ?)
