Can I use my DVI output for my widescreen Hitachi TV?

My Hitachi widescreen tv has a DVI input. My Gainward Geforce4 4600 has DVI outputs. Can I use the DVI output on the Geforce4 on my television?

You may need a program like powerstrip to obtain custom resolutions/ refresh rates to match the tv. I have an Hitachi 43" ws rear projection. I found that the 920x500 resolution works best (minimal overscan).

Yes go to AVSForum - specifically the HTPC section.

Start asking questions. You may not want DVI to your TV- depends on what you want to do and what your equipment will allow. You might be better off with a VGA cable if your TV accepts it. (Cheaper, longer runs, no difference in picture quality, allows more functions in certain cases.)

A HTPC with TT, ffdshow, Powerstrip, will be an incredible improvement over any DVD player you can buy on the market.
You would want to use an ATI 9500/ 9700 for this though.

Why? Because you can scale the DVD resolution up/ apply filters/ and then make an exact match for what your TV displays as a native resolution. Much, much better than just 480P.
