Can I use my 4 yr old Corsair on a new build?

I have a Corsair HX520 that went in service 4 years ago on my current build. I am planning a new build and will be re-using some parts. Is the Corsair going to be OK with this new build?

Planning on:

i7-2600k
Z68 board
8gb ram
1xSSD drive
1xSATA drive
integrated graphics for now and only 1 video card in future (no plans at all to ever SLI or CF)
1xDVDRW

Will it be OK or do I need to spend a few extra $$$ for a new PSU?

It will be fine. I'm running my trusty old 520 on a similar system, but with a power hungry 4890. It's overclocked to the ~4.5ghz level too.

You should be good to go. I'm using my HX620 on my new build with no problems at all.

awesome. thanks to you both.

If I had a discrete card later, something like a 6870, but just one, would that push me to a new PSU or do you think the HX520 would still handle it.

Uh I'm not sure if you realize this, but a computer with a single video card is generally not even going above 300w. You have way more than enough headroom here.

well, a few weeks ago I borrowed a kill a watt from a friend but only measured at idle. my current system with an nvidia 8800GT was idling under 200 so I assumed I'd be OK, but wasn't sure how much degradation I should expect from a 4 yr old PSU?

And what is the peak wattage on the 12v rail for such a PC with a high end video card?

you will 100% be totally ok even with a high draw GPU. do not worry about it any longer.

Put it this way, my HX520 handled Core i7 860 @ 3.9ghz + HT 99% loaded in SETI@Home + HD6950 @ 6970 speeds 99% loaded in MilkyWay@Home simultaneously 24/7. I have ran it this way since February of 2011. Before that, I had a GTX470 with same CPU. Before that, it was supporting a Q6600 @ 3.4ghz + 4890 (both loaded too). It has had to cope with nearly 99% CPU/GPU load for the last 4 years on my system (I am almost sure your setup won't ever be subjected to such torture). That PSU is made by Seasonic so it is a good quality unit.

I've seen people run Q6600 @ 3.2-3.4ghz + 2x HD4890 in CF on that same PSU. Plus you have 1 year warranty remaining. :D
