can I use micro-atx board (Intel 440-BX chip) for AMD Athlon processors ?

hi,

i have a Pentium III pc (IBM Aptiva) running on a micro-atx board (Intel 440-BX chip) and I want to replace it with an AMD Athlon processor. Can it be done?

AMD's site said to check with motherboard manufacturer? where do i find such info?

See the "Abit BE6" for slotket+Celeron suggestion. Your motherboard might need a BIOS update to run a 1 GHz chip though.

No, you can't, you can only run intel slot-1, socket-370 and VIA C-3 I think.

You need a chipset that runs the EV protocol of the Athlon. :)
