Yeah, FXT1. Unless you disabled it, it is automatically enabled.. or at least it should be.

Are there levels to it like 4x FSAA?
Where do I disable it?

thanks for the reply!

No, just on or off. It is under Legacy Texture Compression in 3dfx Tool >> Advanced Tools >> OpenGL

Dave, he's talking about Q3, maybe he's talking about texture comression?

also, does "legacy texture compression" only do the framebuffer, not the textures, in 32-bit, right?

anyhooo.....

here's how you disable texture compression in Q3
*********
1.17 Q3
/seta r_ext_compress_Textures 0
**********
1.25 Q3 or Q3:Team Arena
/seta r_ext_compressED_textures 0
**********
enter at the console. the command is not case-sensitive
i'd keep the compressed textures on tho (use a "1" instead of a "0"), as it adds immensely to the framerate and on a 5500 presents almost zero quality issues (very minor)

If your asking about the texture size as in the dimensions, then yes the VSA 100 supports large textures up to 2048 x 2048 (V4 and V5), as opposed to the V3's 128 x 128 small texture size limit.
If you're talking about S3TC then just read what RoboTECH posted.

Ok, I get it, I am talking about large textures. How do I turn them on?
Can I change their size?

What I'm talking about is texture compression..

textures are controlled by the slider in Q3, and also adjusting the LOD bias slider in the 3dfx tools.

as opposed to the V3's 128 x 128 small texture size limit.

I believe the V3 has a 256x256 limit. Quake 3's slider all the way to the right is for 512x512 textures.
