can i use laptop HHD to my desktop

my sister had a broken laptop and i have a spare desktop parts can i use its HHD.

im planing to build a desktop PC (not a gaming for browsing and streaming etc).

my question is can i use the laptops HHD for my desktop?

i have a i3 540, 4gb ram, itelmobo, if it will work then i only need a psu to have an instant pc.

For SATA hard drives, the connectors (plugs) are the same, but you'll probably need a bracket adapter to put a 2.5" HDD in a 3.5" bay.

Duct tape also works. :awe:

i guess ill buy a 3.5 hdd and make that 2.5hhd as an external storage

You can either mount it in an adapter inside the desktop or get an external 2.5" HD enclosure that you can connect to your desktop or laptop by USB. I have one of those, it was quite cheap (around $5 shipped) and it works.

Adhesive velcro that you buy in strips works great, too. I have a couple of the 2.5" floating around the 5.25" bays that are mounted upside down that way. Figure it probably helps with vibration, too.
