Can I use DRR2667 w/ GIGABYTE GA-965G-DS3 an E4300?

hello , I'm building intel system and was wondering if DRR2667 and E4300 would work with GIGABYTE GA-965G-DS3, since the E4300 is 800bus and the board supports 1066 and 800.

Should I get DRR800 or will the 667 work with this configuration?Will it lower bus speeds?


Parts I'm thinking of ordering from newegg below.(this system is ment to be a cheap, effective, nonoverclocking business Pc). I'm posted them in case anybody has any suggestions for me.

Buss speed as far as i know has to do only with the CPU fsb speed.... and the memory should work fine without lowering any bus speeds... in case u change ur mind about overclocking u should be able to get that 4300 at close to 3ghz without a problem.... depending on the motherboard... if u got the 965P-DS3 then u get better overclocks.

Yes now i remember the memory can run in a ratio from the fsb speed.... like fsb at 250mhz(cpu) while memory can run in itself at 200mhz... just an example not actual...

You say this is for a non overclocked machine. If so, even DDR 667 is faster than you need. DDR 400 (PC-3200) is all that would be needed to run this set up at spec. If you want to allow for possible future overclocking you can buy 667.

FYI You should be able to do a safe, significantly overclocked machine without pushing any limits. E4300's can usually do 2.4 Ghz with extremely mild (if any) over voltage. That's a 33% increase in CPU speed for nothing.
 
Agree that you don't even need DDR2-667, and could get away with 533. However, at least around here, it is essentially the same cost, so no point. The 667 will run faster, and you should easily be able to overclock it to near 3 GHz, with the 667 RAM, and moderate settings. See this thread:

Make sure you buy 2x512 RAM so you can put one in each channel to run in dual channel mode.

Yeah DDR2-800 still has a slight premium over the DDR2-667, hence why I stuck with getting 2GB off DDR2-667 rather then 800. Dual Channel DDR2-667 could feed a 1.33GHZ FSB in sync, so even though it's not the best it still leaves some headroom.
