Hi!

I was given and old optiplex system with 128mb of RAM (PC-133) and I'd like to upgrade it to 512MB or more.

Is it possible to use DDR 266mhz RAM in such system?

Thanks!

Right, DDR SDRAM != plain SDRAM

You motherboard also may only support expensive "low density" PC133 depending on the motherboard model and chipset. Be careful of buying the cheaper PC133 "high density" you see on the web before finding out what you need.

Also, some Intel chipsets only allow up to 512 MB RAM so don't try to add more without checking first.

FS/FT forum here can be a good place for cheap used PC133, you might even be able to trade your DDR.

Thanks guys. I am pretty good when it comes to the newer stuff, but this PC100 or PC133 I'm really not familiar with. (I didn't even care to open the case and ran cpu-z instead)

Thanks!
