Can I stick a bunch of cd-rom drives on ATA cards non-raided and up to how many per card? As much as the card permits right? Do ATA cards usually come with 1 ide slot? CD-rom fetish n00b...

Edit: I know this belongs in the hardware forums but who the hell goes there on weekends?! Who the hell even goes there at all? ;)

I used to run a Plextor 16/10/40A off of a Promise Ultra 66 PCI controller because the damn VIA IDE controller would always cause the Plextor to make bad burns.

Should theoretically be able to do 4 per card (2 channels, 2 per channel).

For most PCI IDE controllers, this setup is unsupported, but it should work. Never tried it on a PCI RAID IDE card though.

Yep, you sure can.....my system at work doesn't have anything (HDDs, CD, CD-RW) hooked up the the mobo, everything is through the ATA PCI Card.
