Can I use ATA-100 HD?

I have an old PII-266 computer that need more HD space. I am thinking about buying 40 GB Seagate Barracuda IV Ultra-100 7200RPM for data storage. I am wondering if my old motherboard will take this HD or not.... Do I need to purchase PCI card to use this drive? I don't need to get whole ATA-100 data transfer speed. I am thinking of buying this one for future use(maybe upgrade is the first thing I should do... but short of money).

Anyone?

Yes it'll just get picked up as a ATA33 or ATA66 drive. However you're OS and/or BIOS may not be able to address a 40GB drive.

Doesn't matter what the MOBO supports, if you use a ATA33 cable it'll still work but it'll only be recognized as a ATA33 drive.
