Can I somehow connect to my AP over ethernet, and then use the AP as a WiFi interface, allowing me to connect to WiFi networks ?

If it has a client mode, ethernet bridge. Called a few different things. Of course you'll need to be configured correctly as it pertains to the parent AP. WEP, WPA, MAC filtering etc.. You can't just connect to any ole AP. not if the guy has a clue how to set it up and doesn't want you to but the basic answer is yeah, sure.

Yah, you can use it for that pretty simply. If it's a Linksys, they give you a little client utility that configure everything for you. Otherwise you have to setup the AP as a "bridge" to your wired ethernet network. Look at your manual to route your traffic to your router on your ethernet. AKA gateway.

what you are looking for is a wireless client mode. this mode exists for most AP's out there. you basically hardwire your PC to the AP, set the AP to wireless client mode, and basically you will be using the AP as your wireless nic

if you select bridging mode, you will need another AP to act as the bridge so that they could communicate to each other.

this is what I am looking for.

Now I need to determine if my WAP11 will operate in client mode.
