I would like to wait 6-9 months to replace my old Seattle2 MB (440BX)w PII-450, 128Meg RAM (PC100); It has AGP 1x slot.
I am waiting for "Next Generation" AMD CPU and socket A MB.
I would like to replace my Voodoo550 TNT2 16 Meg card so I can get decent performance playing Flight Simulator 2000, Flight III, A-10, Red Baron etc. Eventually, along w new CPU I will get a new MB w AGP4x slot or with what is current.
Can I use Kyro II in current AGP1x slot?
Any idea of performance hit?
Is there a way of getting AGP 2x w/o new MB?
What is best AGP 1x VB available now for my apps?

I'm currently using a GeForce 2 Pro 64MB DDR in the same motherboard, it's running great! Only at 1x but the differeneces between the AGP speeds are negligable.

AGP is basckwards compatible, you'll have no problems using newer AGP 2X and 4X cards, and the performance hit you'll take is pretty small.

I've got an AMD k6-2 350mhz and an asus motherboard with 1x 2x agp and i've tested a geforce2 mx on it. Most games do looked better but they were running very bad because my motherboard's agp supply couldn't supply the geforce2 card with sufficient power and second my processor is too slow and can't handle it. So, if i were you, i would first test before buying
