I don't really need to substitute a TV for a monitor, but is there a way I can view the video output from my monitor port on a television? I have audio/video and coaxial inputs on the tv.

If your video card doesn't have svideo or coaxial out, then you would need a 3rd party card that can do this. Note that TVs have terrible resolution so unless it's for gaming, you'll need to make some serious font adjustments.

I agree, You'll be stuck at 800x600 as the TV can display no higher. In my case my 21" monitor is bigger than my 19" TV so TV-out is not needed here.

You're videocard hasta support TV-out. Does it? What kind you got?

If your video card doesnt have tv-out, you can use a scan-converter.
(Im using a Kyro2 with tv-out but Ive used a tivo converter in the past & it worked pretty well)

You will be stuck at 800x600 as said earlier, you can game in higher resolutions but if you set your desktop higher than 800x600 you'll have a heck of a time reading fonts & the edges of your screen are cut off.

I am typing this on a pc hooked to a 36" Sony Wega (the one in my sig my "main" pc).

The wega has edge sharpening that makes the fontts at 800x600 very readable.

And Ive ggotta admit, Max Payne on a 36" screen is a blast.
As a matter of fact, I moved my Anachronox save games to this pc so I could sit on the couch in comfort while I play.

Dont get me wrong, a tv is absolutely "NO SUBSTITUTE" for a monitor but I do find myself using this pc more & more.
