Can I use a p3 733 cpu fan on a p3 1gig cpu without any problems?

I bought a p3 1gig off ebay for cheap to spruce up an old rig. Can I use my stock p3 733 heat sink and fan on this or do I need to get something a little better? I am wondering because years ago I built a celeron 1000 system for someone and the heatsink for that cpu was quite a bit beefier.

See if you can find a golden orb, IIRC they were the pwn back in the day. Shouldn't be too expensive either.

Please do not use a Golden Orb. They were nice in the day, but their day is long gone. Here's a $9 HSF that is representative of what's currently available. Assuming you have the space around your sockets - not all socket 370 boards have enough space around the socket for current heatsinks, the choice would be for any heatsink using an 80mm fan with a copper base if it fits. You get great cooling without too much noise, plus prices start under $10.

More than fine most likely. Good example on what'll work for these chips, when I took apart my roommates p3 1.4 Dell pos box I found a disturbing sight; probably 4 years worth of dust and cat hair, slightly damp (she left it by an open window). Some of the dust - felt like fine dirt by now - had managed to be forced so far into the heatsink that I needed a thick needle to get most of it out. It was like fine mud almost. Comp still worked fine though, no errors and stayed warm but not hot, so I'd say just about any HSF combo meant for a p3 should work fine for ya.
