P133

Will this work for a burn station? Burning, and ONLY burning.. Ricoh 7040a. not much CD copying, more of file archiving.

I would use this cause its free.

I have a P150 with 32M and a CL 8x/4x/32x. It can only seem to burn at 4x but otherwise it works fine.

It depends a lot on the CD-R drive you are using. What does the manual/box list as being the minimum requirements? If it's a P133 or less, then you're fine. If not, then you may have problems. (My Plextor drive won't work with anything less than a P200...)

I know a guy with an 8x burner that can't burn at 8x since he has a slow processor. He is limited to 2x or 4x I believe. Next time I see him online I will ask him what his processor speed is.

theoretically, it should depend the most on the IDE devices, and the IDE controller to which the CD Burner is connected.

however the CPU matters quite a bit when it comes to IDE data transfer as well, so anything u can do to increase the speed of the CPU, or decrease the CPU requirements would help correct?

so, if it at all were possible (sounds like u don't want to spend any money on this), go SCSI, or upgrade the CPU to 233, simply to be sure that u can burn at all..
