I picked up a Duron 700 at a exremely low price. Thing is the fan/heatsink (not even sure it is a heatsink) is not on the approved AMD list for the Duron 700. The company is Powercooler and the Model # Socket 2100. There website recommends the fan for socket a processors. Would I be okay using this or should I pick up an AMD approved heat sink

If you're not gonna be overclocking much, it may be okay. I am not sure, though... I would try to get a socket A approved heatsink, like a taisol cek733092(which is available for fairly cheap).

Better get an approved one, but you'll be able to run with it @ default speed with no problems, if your case has a good ventilation
