Can I use a Mobile Pentium 4 2.66 Ghz cpu in Dell PowerEdge 400sc?

I don't think they made a P4M at 2.66GHz. P4M's were 100FSB CPUs (see here: http://processorfinder.intel.c...s/list.asp?ProcFam=826 ), so we have one of two possibilities:
1. you actually have a P4 2.66GHz desktop CPU which will work no problem. (some laptop manufacturers put these into laptops and people pull them out of laptops and sell them on eBay as notebook CPUs when they are actually desktop CPUs)

2. You have a P4M 2.6GHz CPU. This will work at 1.2GHz as when you put a P4M into a desktop computer, the multiplier will default to 12x and there is no way to change the FSB on a dell (I'm pretty sure cutting the pin to force 133FSB won't work either).

The 2.66ghz works on the 133mhz FSB. Mobile pentium 4's will work on a desktop board, but will likely default to the lowest multiplier, so using it with a dell, it would probably underclock it, and you won't have any options in the BIOS, to set the multiplier to the correct speed.
