i know it can be done, ie the plugs fit and lights light up, but is it safe? will it mess up the battery or the machine itself in the long run? i know the chargers are different as one is 65w and the other is 85w.

i'm specifically wondering about the macbook charger being used for the macbook pro. thanks!

Having done both, used a MBP charger on an MB and a MB charger on a MBP i can tell you that depending on how long you want to keep this arrangement there should be no adverse affects other than that the MBP will take longer to charge.

The MacBook power adapter gets very hot when used with a MacBook Pro too. It still works just fine though

The MacBook power adapter when hooked to a MacBook Pro will charge the MBP very slowly, but it will work, and get hot.

What happens if you do it reverse and use a MBP charger on a MB?

It should be intelligent enough to only siphon 60W, the battery will act as a buffer.

I think the MB charger isn't really able to charge the MBP but just keep everything running fine.
