Can i use a hitachi ultrastar 15,000rpm hdd

The card will work with the 73GB drive. The card does not even do Ultra160 so it may limit the performance of the drive. Getting an Ultra320 card to match the drive would be the optimal choice. You could also get a different drive that would match the card more closely.

The larger drive has an 80pin SCA connector which is NOT going to work with that card. SCA requires a backplane which a home system wouldn't have.

 
The 146 has longer warranty.. but I rather have the 68.. no need for that sca adapter.. but its up to u..
