Can i use a half-height mini pci in a full size mini pci slot?

New dell studio hybrid is arriving soon, didn't order the wireless option as it was a $70 upgrade.

Disassembly video online shows a mini-pci slot where the wireless card would go, and i have a spare half-height mini pci wireless card laying around. Would it work in the slot? Would just need to pick up some antenna's off ebay if it does.

I've actually tested this and they work fine, though you do need to find a way to keep the card in the slot and snug. Most laptops with full size cards don't have screw holes for half height cards.

When I did it I used a peice of cardboard. :|

I don't think there are any adapters. The card will fit but it will want to continually want to pop up. You are going to need to make a diy adapter.

You also may be able to change the backplane and thus gain a proper length with the hold down screw.
