Obviously, I could use it. But can I use the Ti4200 in 1920x1200 running through DVI for the Dell 2405FPW monitor?

I've searched the forums and can't find the answer, I've also hit google pretty hard. I think the Ti4200 can do that resolution, but I don't know if it can do it through DVI or not?

Can anyone shed some light on it for me?

*shrugs Widescreen Hi-Res DVI panels were either not available in that time period, or not in broad use, certainly not in the consumer arena. Most high end LCD's of that time, were square ones supporting 1600x1200 Res. Could also be higher performance requirements for DVI output?? I really don't know.

Why don't you upgrade your VC if your going to by a $900 display? You can get a card a lot better than your 4200 for $200 that would support that display.

This is what i want to say, but i understand you dont want to try to spend money if you dont have to obviously your not going to be gaming. It's more for normal desktop use if i were you i would try just to upgrade to at lesat an X300 or 6200.

found this right now:

"Besided, all modern GeForce and ATi cards support up to 1920x1200@60Hz
on DVI with reduced blanking intervals. I know, because I've run a
1920x1200@60Hz panel on a GeForce4 Ti4200 using the digital signal in DVI."

I guess if you have the monitor and card, plug it in and let us know what happens ;) Worse thing to happen would be you max out at 1600x1200, no damage done, and you'll know for sure.

I had a GF4Ti4200 with 128MB from Asus. I ran my 23" Sony LCD @ 1920x1200 JUST FINE. I also ran my Dell 2405 just fine on that also.

The refresh rate doesn't matter for the LCD as it isn't 'scanline' technology like CRT's. The backlight is on all the time.

I bought a new graphics card as the fan on my GF4Ti4200 died years ago and I only changed up for WoW :p.

You can get some very nice GF6800 Non pro (stay the hell away from LE and SE! Get a 'normal' one if you have an AGP graphics card, unlock the extra stuff and OC a bit). GREAT value for £100 imo.

Actually the limit on all single link DVI has always been 1600x1200 including the 7800GTX, x1800xt, but it is possible to get 1920x1200 @60Hz out of them.

That suits the LCD's fine. The refresh on a LCD doesn't matter for an LCD.

I'm running dual 1920x1200 one with DVI and the other DVI.
