iv ealways bummed OS's off the MSDN library at my job... and just today we received Windows XP Pro, Home and some other edition. I've noticed though alot of talk about some new piracy protection scheme... will I be able to install this and use their product key without a problem? Do they chekc multiple product keys unlike all the previous OS's ? Thanks for any info

even though i don't quite like microsoft, i suggest you buy Win XP and save yourself the hassle of the stupid registration crap.

it depends on the License that your work has for the product. If for example your work has 500 licenses you would have 1 license for work and 1 for home for total of 2 leaving 498 licenses for distribution. So technically and legally you can and cannot, it depends is you have licenses left.

On the other hand MS has special licensing agreements with LAR's (Large Account Resellers) and MCP's (Microsoft Certified Partner's) where they would allow work licenses to be used at home for personal use for learning MS products for example, as long as the employee is employed by the MCP.
