is it silicon based? i would think so.

regardless, i would think it may work, but why risk not using one that is rated to handle high temps. go buy a cheap tube of RTV sealent that goes up to 400 degress or so???

that's my view.

It spend the extra $3 and get the good stuff. Bath sealant, if not silicon will dry, crack and shrink.

Many cheap/domestic silicone rubbers release acetic acid (vinegar smell) as they set. Not recommended around electronics. Look for an acid-free type.

I have never used a silicone that didn't smell like vinegar when it dried. They all smell that way from my experience with them.

Go to auto parts store get a tube of Fel-Pro blue gasket sealant.
I have used this for years on cars as a gasket replacement
around thermostats and all hose connections.
Not one single problem ever.
they make several different proucts get the gasket sealant
not the thread sealant, fel-pro red, the seal would be forever.
