Can I use a .13 AMD in place of a .18 AMD?

My MSI 6330 V3 Turbo board has a approved maximum CPU of 1800+ .18 die (Thunderbird) Can I run the 1800+ .13 (Thoroughbred) CPU in its place? The older chips are hard to find. Is there a website that explains more the differences in this CPU. The AMD site is not very helpful, concerning this issue. Thanks

From my understanding, some boards yes, others no. I do not use AMD anymore so I could not be of any real help though. Just what I read.

I have heard same thing and it really depends on your mobo manufacturer...The board likely will need a bios update to correctly identify the processor but it still make work.
