can i use 2 modems at home for DSL?

so i have a new 12" powerbook but my wireless router hasnt arrived. i have verizon (pppoe) dsl. i still have my main computer online, but i remembered i had an extra dsl modem lying around somewhere. would it work if both computers were connected at the same time (i know i could turn off the main PC but its on to check my emails since i have yet to figure out how to import/sync my outlook stuff to entourage?)
