Got one 1GB 128X72 PC100 SDRAM-100MHZ ECC REG DIMM CL2, Kingston memory for 20.00$ on dell. But my HP pavilion support only 2*256M DIMM PC100 memory. Irongate Chipset, AMD850.
what will happen if I put it on my computer if:

a. put is on only in slot 1;
b. put is on in slot 2, while have the orginal 128M in slot 1?

will it be viewed as 258M mem by the system?

thanks

No, it wont work unfortunately, unless the board has undocumented support for 1 Gb. modules. However.. what you can do... is sell the DIMM on the forums or on eBay, and buy yourself 2 256 DIMMs and make some money on top :)

There is no "258 MB". There is 256 MB. LOL, 1 Gig of ECC PC100 RAM for $20? :) Yeah right, and I got a GeForce3 for a penny.
