can i use 1600mhz ram on 1333mhz mobo?

my specs
i3 540
intel dh55pj mobo.. it supports 8gb 1333mhz
hd 7870
coraair 650w

is it posible to use 2x4 8gb 1600mhz ripjaw on my pc
 
The clock speed shouldn't be a problem - RAM will down-clock as needed.

But check the RAM manufacturer's website for a compatibility list. Some older chipsets only support certain high-density DIMMs and stuff.
 
As dave_the_nerd said, yes you can. And it is a good idea. As Blain pointed out, it could be rated for a higher voltage at that speed anyway, so you won't have to worry about the default settings and voltage being enough for stability.
